Message from the President

Honorable Members of the Nepal Chemical Society,

We are deeply honored and humbled by the trust and confidence you have placed in us through the election of our team to lead the Nepal Chemical Society. We accept this responsibility with a strong commitment to serving our members and advancing the role of chemistry in education, research, innovation, and national development.

Established in 1979, the Nepal Chemical Society has played a pivotal role in promoting chemical sciences in Nepal. The achievements of the Society over the past four decades are the result of the vision, dedication, and hard work of our predecessors and members. We would like to express our sincere gratitude to all former presidents, executive council members, and all members for their valuable leadership and contributions.

As we move forward, our priority will be to strengthen the Society as a vibrant platform for chemists from academia, industry, research institutions, and government organizations. We will expand opportunities for scientific exchange through conferences, seminars, workshops, training programs, and collaborative research initiatives. Special emphasis will be placed on supporting early-career researchers and students who represent the future of chemistry in Nepal.

Promoting quality chemistry education and inspiring young minds will remain one of our key objectives. The Society will actively engage with schools, colleges, and universities to encourage scientific curiosity, strengthen chemistry education, and nurture future scientists.

We will also work to strengthen partnerships with industry and national and international scientific organizations. Through these collaborations, we aim to enhance research capacity, promote innovation, and demonstrate the critical role of chemistry in addressing challenges related to health, agriculture, energy, environment, and sustainable development.

The Nepal Chemical Society will continue to advocate for increased investment in scientific research and evidence-based policy making. We will engage constructively with government policies to normalize and substantially increase basic science research funding, and actively respond with necessary legislative and policy measures. At the same time, we will strengthen public engagement activities to enhance scientific literacy, promote chemical safety, and increase public appreciation of chemistry and its contributions to society.

We are equally committed to improving communication with our members through stronger digital platforms and to further enhancing the quality and international visibility of the Journal of Nepal Chemical Society (JNCS).

The success of our Society depends on the active participation, ideas, and support of its members. We therefore invite all members to work together in building a dynamic, inclusive, and internationally recognized professional community that contributes meaningfully to Nepal’s scientific advancement and national prosperity.

We look forward to your continued cooperation, guidance, and support in the years ahead.

With best wishes,
Mahesh Kumar Joshi, PhD
